MOTHER ROBIN LIM, 2011 CNN HERO OF THE YEAR

Robin Lim, an Filipino-American woman who has helped thousands of poor Indonesian women have a healthy pregnancy and birth, was named the 2011 CNN Hero of the Year on Sunday night.

Through her Yayasan Bumi Sehat health clinics, “Mother Robin,” or “Ibu Robin” as she is called by the locals, offers free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid in Indonesia, where many families cannot afford care.

“Every baby’s first breath on Earth could be one of peace and love. Every mother should be healthy and strong. Every birth could be safe and loving. But our world is not there yet,” Lim said during “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute,” which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and recognized Lim and the other top 10 CNN Heroes of 2011.

The PMS-YIP aims to provide opportunities for the Filipino youth to use their knowledge and skills in worthwhile activites and expose them to actual government operations. It has two (2) components, namely:

1. Student Practicum Program (SPP) - an internship program for students who would like to hold their practicum/on-the-job training in PMS as a requirement for graduation.

2. Government Internship Program (GIP) - a summer internship program for the Filipino youth (in-school and out-of-school) who possess above average skills/potentials and who are financially in need. A stipend of P258.24/day will be given to those will be accepted to the GIP.

TO QUALIFY:
For Student Practicum Program:
- College level
- Must be in the field of any of the following courses:
Public Administration and Governance, Economics, Management, Business Administration, Legal Management, Political Science, Developmental Studies, Psychology, Social Sciences, Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, Accounting/Finance, Mass Communications, Office Administration
- Of good moral character

For Government Intership Program
- College students from non-exclusive schools, vocational students and out of school youths
- 18-25 years old
- Possess above average mental ability and skills
- Good moral character, flexible and with pleasing personality

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
For Student Practicum Program
- Recommendation letter (indication the number of required OJT hours) duly signed by the practicum adviser/coordinator or school official.
- Letter of intent from the student
- Certificate of Good Moral Character signed by the school’s guidance counsellor
- Updated resume with recent 2x2 colored ID picture

For Government Internship Program
- Letter of intent
- Barangay clearance
- Updated resume with 2x2 colored ID picture
